AGING IN PLACE INITIATIVE MEETING MINUTES 9/29/17

ATTENDANCE: Bette Crawford, Claudette Hollenbeck, Bettina Krampetz, Mary Towne, and Alan Baker

Call to order at 1:00 P.M. by Claudette.

Minutes of the previous meeting were accepted  by a motion of Tina and 2nd by Mary with all in favor.

Summer Lecture Series: The series was well received and it is felt it should  continue next year. More publicity was encouraged.

Website Average Usage: Alan reported it was accessed on the average of 30 times per day, mainly to the home page and loan closet.

Computer Tutor: Claudette thought that Derrick Gladding would be available by appointment for a reasonable fee.

Residential Lock Box Program: On the appointment of a full time Fire Chief, investigation of this program will continue.

Loan Closet: Alan and Bill have inventoried, neatened and organized our storage space. It is too full! There is an excess of walkers and crutches. A motion was made by Bette and seconded by Claudette for Alan to use his judgement in giving some to metal recycling or to other organizations who might want them. All were in favor and a hearty thank you to Alan.

AIP ranking: Vermont ranks third in the Nation for AIP initiatives!

Gathering Place: Bette reported fund raising, permitting and renovations are in process. Opening date not determined yet.

News Letter: Mary may do one more news letter on line.

Status of Aging in Place: Discussion of the current and future status of AIP took place. Following a positive discussion, it was felt that AIP should maintain it’s status at present, for optimal functioning of its groups and efforts, eg. the Men’s group, loan closet, lecture series and other opportunities that couldn’t be addressed on an individual level. Claudette will act as “mission control” and call meetings when there is a need. Currently we have approximately $900 in our 1% grant fund.

Energy Visits by Senior Solutions: Alan shared information about the Energy Audits. Senior Solutions will send a volunteer to replace all incandescent bulbs for free and do an audit of other energy savings. If interested call Senior Solutions.

Adjournment, with a motion by Tina and second by Alan with all in favor, was at 2:00 P. M.

Next Meeting will be called when there is a need.

Respectfully submitted, Bettina Krampetz
